Religious people must have already heard of Međugorje, one of the best-known Roman Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the world, just one and a half hours' drive from Makarska. Even if you haven't heard of it before, this is a unique chance to visit this holy place in the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the first apparitions started as far back as 1981. Hike up to the Apparition Hill and visit the Church of St. James.
