• Visit the parish church of St George, graced by its distinctive bell tower.
• Tour 2 small churches decorated with frescoes – dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to St Roch.
• Take fantastic landscape photographs from the Venetian period loggia – with a view all the way to the sea.
• If you love antiques, you should plan your visit to Oprtalj between May and October as there is an antiques fair held every second Sunday in the month. Check out the loggia, stroll the streets and enter the fascinating old houses in which antique and art collectors and dealers exhibit their unique wares.
• Walk or drive down to the Mirna River and visit the small town of Livade (about 6 km away), the heart of the truffle world. When you get there don't miss the opportunity to sample this tasty delicacy in one of the local restaurants.
• While in Livade also be sure to visit the Parenzana Museum and learn all about the narrow gauge railroad that operated from 1902 to 1935 – today a walking and cycling trail. The museum features exhibits of artefacts, documents, photographs, old postcards and milestones (the museum is open every day during the peak season, and weekends or by appointment at +385 52 644-150 in other parts of the year).
• Take the road through the villages of Ipši and Gradinje and visit the Sveti Stjepan spring with its healing waters, flowing below an 85 metre high rock (about 10 km away).
