The Arena in Pula is the largest well-preserved Antique-period architectural monument in Croatia. In the past, it used to be the site of various battles, games and other forms of entertainment, while today it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pula and all of Croatia. Since the 1st century AD, it has been one of the favourite destinations of a great number of historical figures, and it also serves as the backdrop for numerous cultural events such as music festivals, concerts and shows. Come to the Arena to experience a slice of Istria's history!

  • It was built in the 1st century during the reign of Emperor Vespasia.
  • It is of an elliptical shape, with a main axis of 130 metres and a shorter one of 100 metres.
  • In the Middle Ages, the Arena was used for knight tournaments and fairs.
  • Today, the Arena is used for summer events.
